A Love of Profession

dr marc moultonOne my most rewarding experiences as a dentist is seeing the transformation of a patient from one who avoids seeking dental care to one who looks forward to visits at my practice because the person knows he or she will receive painless, compassionate care from my staff and myself.

Being a dentist means helping people every day. When a patient comes to me in pain, it is gratifying when I am able to remedy the situation and give them the ability to go about their life free of discomfort. If a patient comes to me wanting a more beautiful smile, I am able to deliver that as well. And when a patient comes in with oral health issues and I am able to correct them, I know I’ve succeeded because they are going to have a happier, healthier life.

In short, I love being a dentist, and I am thankful for having chosen this profession. I’ve been practicing for more than 30 years, and during that time I’ve met and cared for so many incredible people. I’m now seeing the children and grandchildren of my original patients, and am honored by the trust our families place in our care.

Education and Continuing Education

My Doctorate of Dental Medicine was awarded by the University of Alabama Dental School. I am a firm believer that oral healthcare is a field where a commitment to life-long learning is required, if I am going to provide my patients with the level of care and treatment options that they deserve. Therefore, each year I pursue continuing education offerings at the local, regional, and national levels, through attendance at meetings, lectures, and seminars, in order to stay abreast of the latest technological developments and new treatment methodologies. I’m a member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and their literature and gatherings are additional avenues for me to expand my knowledge.

Personal Life

I tend to spend my personal time with family members, including my wife Debra, daughter Christina, and son Patrick. We also have a family dog, Jezzie. Some of my favorite leisure activities involve time on the tennis courts, a game or two of chess, and delving into a good book.

Giving back to and supporting our community is essential, I feel. I’ve volunteered with the Cahaba Valley Health Care Clinic and Donated Dental Services. This community has given my family and me so much, and I try to repay some of that, as best I can.
